With so many distractions it’s no wonder we turn into busy bee’s. Especially, during the wedding planning process, there’s so many people pulling you into a million directions, it’s hard to listen to your own thoughts. I totally get it, I was a bride a few years ago and it was fun planning my wedding, but there were so many things to do!! I made a vow that I would not turn into a bridezilla, and I am proud to say that I was super calm and had a wonderful day! I want the same for you, which is why I am sharing 4 tips to live a life more intentionally during the planning process. No more being too busy to enjoy life while planning your wedding and you can say Adios to the term “bridezilla!” Let’s jump right in...Here we go!
Tip 1: Create Space
Create space for solitude where you can be alone daily. I usually have quiet times in the morning and I either reading my bible, praying, or just sitting still. It’s a wonderful time and it helps to center my day. There’s no time frame on this. It can be 5 minutes in the bathroom, 10 minutes in your closet, or 20 min during your lunch break in your car. You will feel refreshed and energized. It’s amazing what this time alone can do for our body, so good!!!
Tip 2: Gratitude
Being thankful is a way to recognize the people and things around us. At the end of each day, jot down a fews things you are grateful for. It can be anything like the beautiful colors of the sunset, someone buying your drink at starbucks or even buying lunch for a friend. Whatever it is, think upon these things. We often tend to reflect on negative things, but I am offering an alternative. What if we focused on the positive? This will change your life!
Tip 3: Manage Your Time
Time is precious. We can never get back the minutes that pass by. Protect your time and spend it wisely with people that add meaning to your life. Create boundaries around social media time and stick to it. Create times throughout the week to work on wedding planning and then create time to do other things like go on dates (non-wedding talk dates) and go on hikes with your besties.
Tip 4: Progress NOT Perfection
Had a goal and only completed half of it? That’s totally okay. Give yourself grace. Perhaps it’s time to reevaluate your goals to see if they are attainable in the time frame you allotted. Make adjustments that fit your lifestyle!
Bonus Tip: Workout!!
I am sure you know the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of working out, but for some reason it’s hard for people to make it to the gym. Make a list of your hobbies and see if one of those qualifies as working out. For me, I LOVE going hiking, so I incorporated that into my weekly schedule and now my hubby and dog comes along and it doubles as family time! It’s the best! Do you like salsa dancing, may you and the fiance can start a class? Do you like rock climbing or go on a bike ride to the beach. Also, finding things that you can do with your fiance is a huge PLUS!!!
