Today I want to share with you all of the things I do as a wedding planner. I get asked this question all of the time and I am so excited to share with you all that goes into wedding planning. Okay, so it takes a couple hundred hours to plan a wedding from start to finish. With each wedding being unique, the hours can vary drastically. The average time to plan a wedding is one year, but we are starting to see a trend where people are getting married in 6 months or less. No matter how long your engagement is, there is a huge time investment. With that being said, let’s jump into my role as a wedding planner.
Wedding Planning 101
We will have many meetings getting to know each other, learning about your wedding vision and vibe, discussing various topics and going to tastings and fittings. Some meetings will be in person, on the phone or video chat.
I love all of our planning meetings because it’s a time for us to establish trust and really connect. I love learning about your style as it will be a reflection of your wedding day.
We will sit down and go over your entire wedding budget and I will make recommendations and help you develop a healthy wedding budget.
Budget meetings are so necessary as it will be driving force of the wedding planning process. I will make sure we stay on budget and give you options with your style and budget in mind.
We will create a wedding mood board that reflects the theme and style of your wedding day. If you are a full design client, we will provide you with a design proposal that goes over each design element for your wedding with your budget and style in mind.
This process is key as it will determine the overall look and feel of your wedding. Your wedding will be cohesive, unique and tailor made for you. The level of design assistance will vary depending on which service you select.
Once we develop a design concept, we will begin looking for vendors that match your wedding vision, style and budget. We’ll provide you with a list to choose from.
All you have to do is sit back and relax and let me find the vendors for you. Kick off your shoes and wait for your wedding planner to give you a list of prequalified vendors for your wedding.
Creation of Bride + Groom To-Do List
I make sure to keep you and your fiance on schedule by providing you with a customized wedding to-do list.
You will know exactly what to do and when on the checklist. It’s SO easy!
Room Block Assistance
I help find hotels in the area and start the process of room blocks.
Have out of town guests? We’ll make sure they have a place to sleep before and after the wedding.
Guidance on Wedding Trends and Etiquette
We will go over wedding trends and wedding etiquette.
Don’t worry, it’s your wedding and you can always do it the way YOU want, but it’s nice to be in the know.
Creation of Wedding Vendor Contact Sheet
We will create a document with all of the vendor's contact information on it and send it out to each wedding vendor.
Everyone will know who they are working with and how to get in contact with each other.
Assistance with Sourcing Wedding Welcome Bags/Gifts
We will help you find a company that creates welcome bags and gifts for your bridal party.
This is great for out of town guest or a thank you gift for your bridal party!
Creation of Full Wedding Day Timeline
We will create a comprehensive minute-by minute timeline from the time you wake up in the morning till the time you exit your wedding.
All of your wedding vendors will know where to go, what time to be there and who to contact should they need any assistance.
Wedding Rehearsal Coordination
We will be there the day before the wedding to help you practice walking down the aisle along with your bridal party.
The bridal will know when to walk, who’s in front of them, when to turn, and all that’s in between.
Ceremony and Reception Management
Our team will be your number one fan and biggest cheerleader on your wedding day. We will make sure all the vendors and guest are taken care of and make sure the setup is exactly as we discussed. Everyone will know where to go and we will make sure to stay on schedule. We will handle it all so you can truly enjoy your day.

Alright friends, this is just a few of the over arching things that wedding planners do. There are a lot more little things we do in order for the bigger things to happen, but I hope by now you have a better understanding of the wedding planner role. Simply put wedding planners are the captain of your ship or the director to your movie.
